Aziza Saliev was born and raised in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where she grew up surrounded by a rich mix of cultures and traditions, including Uzbek, Turkish, Russian, Persian, and others. It is from this diverse surraundings that she frequently draws her inspirations.
Art has been Aziza's means of self-expression, escape, and connection with like-minded individuals since childhood. Despite having career in nursing, art has remained an important part of her life. The journey into art became a second career 7 years ago when she joined Parklane Gallery in Seattle providing a platform for her to continue to evolve her unique style and connect with her collectors.
Through her unique portrayals of whimsical girls, Saliev expresses the aspirations of hope and empowerment for women globally and for her own two daughters. She aims to foster a fresh generation of resilient, educated, and free-spirited women who bring kindness and support to the world.
The exaggerated elements in her paintings, such as elongated necks and prominent focal subjects, are intentional choices to convey emotions. The whimsical girls, expressions, and miniature worlds around them serve as storytelling tools.
In her artistic process, she primarily works with oil. She often uses palette knife and brush dot applications to showcase oil's exquisite texture and color.
Outside of her artistic pursuits, Aziza values the time she spends with her family. She is passionate about continuous learning, dedicating her free time to pursue a graduate Nurse Practitioner degree and exploring various creative realms. Her ultimate goal is to make a significant impact on the community and people's lives through both nursing and art.
